Let's be honest, I was getting pretty disgruntled at the whole house hunting thing. Note to self: The actual process is not as fun as watching the HGTV show. We started our search right after our wedding last June, only stopping around Christmas (and really only because there was nothing new on the market). This house actually dropped into our price range at the end of November, but I passed it over...shame on me. I'm not exactly sure why, but in my defense, I don't think the house photographed as well in the listings as it showed in person. Although after seeing a ton of houses that were exactly the opposite (great in pics, terrible in person), I should have added it to the list anyway.
We went to see it on a Saturday in January. There was an open house the following day, so we knew if it was "the one" we would have to act fast. The moment we walked in, the hubs and I both knew it was what we had been looking for this whole time. Each room we saw, we found more and more to love. We made an offer that day, and it was accepted after the open house the next day.
We are still in our apartment for another month or so, but we've begun packing and moving some boxes to our house. Our new appliances arrive this weekend and there's lots of painting to be done in between now and the official move. There will be plenty more posts of all our before and afters, but for now, I'm just reveling in the fact that we actually own a home!
Be well,
