My mother-in-law Nancy is one of the craftiest people I know. She's an avid scrapbooker and has been sewing since she was a little girl. She was a huge help during our wedding, as she made our card holder and both the favors for my bridal shower and the big day.
So, when I stumbled upon some cloth napkins at my parent's house a few months ago, I knew just who to go see. I had visions of what I wanted to do with them, but with no sewing abilities, I asked Nancy if she could magically turn these scraps of fabric into pillows. Last weekend, while celebrating Easter with the family, she presented me with her creations. I guess I wasn't sure what to expect, because I was blown away by what she came up with. Not only did she make regular pillows, but there were round pillows, bolster pillows, pillows with buttons and ones without. It was a pillow palooza!
I love that the napkins belonged to my mother, but were put together by my husband's mom. The buttons Nancy used were from her mother's collection, so there's a little bit of every generation in these pillows.

Beyond the time, energy, and love that went into them, these pillows hold an extra special meaning for me. You see, my mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's at the age of 54 and is currently in a nursing home. Since she's not here to help with these projects, I'm so glad I have my mother-in-law to carry out some of my ideas. My mom would have loved them just as much as I do.
Be well,
